The Thomas Family | Phoenix, Arizona Documentary Family Photographer

This session started with a tea party and ended with a dance party. When I first asked what they love to do together as a family this mama said,

“We love being outdoors, going to breakfast at our favorite places on the weekends, cuddling as a family of three in bed in the mornings before the craziness starts (silly, but has been one of our things since London was little), and honestly being homebodies.”

That’s pretty darn perfect if you ask me! Thank you for inviting me in and letting me document this part of your story. It was filled with laughter, playing, and donuts.

Welcoming Baby Theo | Arizona Documentary Family Photographer

With Thanksgiving right around the corner and fall in full swing, busy season has been no joke. But in the midst of the craziness, this session was a breath of fresh air and I can’t help but be thankful for this mama and her beautiful (new) family of 5! As a military family, she e-mailed me while she was still overseas and one Thursday morning when I showed up at Bible study I saw her name and knew that had to be her! Words cannot describe the impact this family has had on me. A coincidence? I think not! In her words, “It is so sweet to see God’s hand orchestrating our friendship before we were even in the same country!”

Eloise, Henry, and little baby Theo are so ridiculously loved and this family is one you could laugh with all day. I was lucky enough to photograph their family as they welcomed Theo home and to be honest, “lucky” doesn’t even seem to cut it. While I was there I also did a family film for them and as a mama, these films have been such treasures. A story in motion. Pretty sure there’s nothing better.

Please watch their film, and look through the photos of their incredible family…

Preserve Your Memories

Last Christmas I was searching through old photos of my mom and I to restore and frame to give to her as a gift. I found some gems. Like pictures of her in college and of me as a chubby baby roaming through the house, much like I take of my own kids that have become some of my favorite photos. I literally could have sat there for hours reminiscing about being a kid, and later having my mom tell me stories of exactly what was happening when each photo was taken. Some of my favorite weekends spent together with my family are when we look through pictures, laughing and talking about how crazy it is that time has gone by so fast.

I want to leave those memories for my kids, and especially for you.

It’s so important to have tangible memories, which is why every family session includes a keepsake box and prints, as well as a USB drive of your digital photos so you always have a way to keep printing your family’s memories. The best of both worlds!

“I wish I had realized that family history is a perishable commodity. It disappears with time, as memories fade, and as loved ones pass on. I wish I had known the most important aspect of family history is preserving a record of the present for the future.”- Guy Black

The Flug Family | Phoenix, Arizona Documentary Family Photographer

There’s nothing quite as exciting as Christmas time and sessions documenting families making memories make my heart so happy! Christmas pj’s, pillow fights, and dancing on the kitchen counter while helping mom and dad make breakfast. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Ashley is a local photographer and wanted me to capture them making breakfast so they had some pictures to hang in their kitchen. How cool is that? Thank you for choosing me to tell just a piece of your story. All weekends should be filled with love & laughter like this one!

My Arrows

Psalm 127:3-5

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
    offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them…

In July (after taking multiple pregnancy tests) we found out we were expecting baby number three. First was shock. How am I going to be mom to one more, when I feel like I am barely making it with two? Then there was disbelief. This is surreal. This can’t be in the plan, right? Then came the first ultrasound with the whole family in tow. That’s when it became real, and I finally became accepting. I know that can seem harsh, especially since I have suffered through miscarriages and infertility. It’s not easy.

Then I was reminded of this verse and everything changed. Life is crazy beautiful, even within the chaos. I know there will be times where I will feel like I’m not going to make it. When I want to give up. When I am overwhelmed. But aren’t we all at times? And we all make it.

I can’t wait to meet little Bubbles (named by Sophia), and start making even more memories. And I still can’t believe my youngest is now going to be a big brother to a little BOY!
